BLACK n ORANGE CENTIPEDE

a DANGEROUS CENTIPEDE a CRITTER of BULGARIA

I came across this lovely little dangerous centipede as I turned over a large stone on my farm in Bulgaria!

Later on in the week, a local Bulgarian showed me around a disused school house and there was another dangerous centipede running across the floor. He promptly attempted to squash it.

It acted just like a worm with the severed parts of it’s body still moving!

He also informed me that this is indeed a dangerous critter, I had only encountered these centipedes before in Thailand where the many legs and the body were orange, this centipede had a black body as you can see from the close up photos!

BEWARE THERE ARE DANGEROUS CRITTERS IN BULGARIA!

I have also been advised that if I get bitten by one of these orange and black centipedes, it should resemble a bee sting, I should make the wound bleed to extract any poison, they told me to use amonia on it and to visit a doctor if the irritation lasts more than a couple of days!

How poisonous is this dangerous centipede? I didn’t hang around to find out!

Although the locals do not like this dangerous looking red/orange and black centipede, I have been told that it is not actually dangerous as it is far too small to bite a human

  2. Enmos says:

This likely a dark Megarian Banded Centipede (Scolopendra cingulata).
